Biography

Manfred Ashiboe-Mensah is a Lecturer attached to the Faculty of Information Technology and Communication Studies. Since joining UPSA in 2010, he has taught many courses such as International Culture and Communication and Comparative Leadership at the Graduate School, and Business Communication, New Social Media, Public Relations, and Advertising at the undergraduate level.

Before becoming an academic, Manfred worked with the Radio News wing of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) for 11 years. Within these years, he worked as a reporter, producer and finally as the Head of the Political Desk. Journalism afforded him the opportunities to have training and seminars with the BBC, CNN, SABC, GJA, EC among many others.

In 2001, he was adjudged the best CNN African Radio Journalist of the Year at a big gala in Johannesburg, South Africa. He also won other awards like the Ohio University Graduate Associate Scholarship and the OGS award. 

Manfred had also worked at Global Media Alliance Group in Accra as an Editor, the International Studies Center at Ohio University as a Graduate Assistant, and with many other companies in the United States in various positions.

In the course of his journalistic profession, Manfred has contributed numerous articles to both local and the international media.

Currently, he is a co-founder of Standard Communication International, a communication consulting firm that provides media services to corporate entities, civil society groups, and small businesses.
