Biography

Kofi Adinkrah Jnr. was born in Accra, Ghana and is currently an Assistant Lecturer at the Faculty of Law in the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA).

Kofi’s field of expertise includes Labour Law, Alternative Dispute Management, law in development, company law, human rights, disability rights and public-sector governance.

Before he became an Assistant Lecturer at UPSA in 2016, he lectured at the Department of Business Administration, Catholic Institute of Business and Technology (CIBT), where he taught Business, Company & Labour Law.

He also taught Constitutional Law, as well as the Law of Contract at the Faculty of Law, Wisconsin International University College (WIUC). Kofi usually employs the Socratic style in his teaching.

Apart from being a strong member of Academia, Mr. Adinkrah is a qualified Barrister-at-law and Solicitor. As such, he engages in Transactional lawyering, General Legal Drafting, Legal Advisory and Counselling Services, Representation before courts, judicial and quasi-judicial bodies amongst others.

Professional Experience

  • Consultant on a broad variety of issues, including the following: Affirmative Action for Persons with Disability in Ghana, for the Ghana Federation of the Disabled (GFD); Reviewing and analysing the Persons with Disability Act, 2006 (Act 715), for the Ghana Federation of the Disabled (GFD); Aligning the Mental Health Bill, 2012 to conform to Ghana's 1992 Constitution and the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disability; Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender (GLBT) Issues In Ghana, and The Review of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana, providing content for the drafting of The Final Report of the Constitution Review Commission presented to H.E The President, J.E.A. Mills in December, 2011.
  • Facilitator, Workshop on the Development of a Concept Paper on Affirmative Action for Persons with Disability in Ghana, 2013
  • Facilitator, Stakeholder Consultation on the collation of stakeholder views for incorporation into a Memorandum on the Draft Legislative Instrument to the Persons with Disability Act, 2006 (Act 715), Tamale, July 2012
