Teaching Statement

My ultimate aim as a Lecturer is to apply various learning skills to create room for further learning and thinking. In my class, I guide students in critical thinking, argument development, written and verbal expression, and the application of general principles to daily lives. My belief is that these abilities will prepare students for future academic career and the demands of the job market. Besides, I also expect my students to attain a high level of learning in specific content areas, especially in courses related to language and communication.

Exposing students to both theoretical and empirical research literature is a vital aspect of my teaching plans with the reason being that a proper understanding of course material is boosted by an understanding of the methods used to determine that information. Moreover, an emphasis on the discovery of knowledge fosters an appreciation of research design and methodology, and more generally, of the importance of critical evaluation.

Undoubtedly, writing proficiency is a significant segment of a university education, and all of my courses involve writing assignments and a variety of assessment question types. I always challenge my students to write more extensive research papers at the end of every semester.  That notwithstanding, while I periodically make alterations depending on the progress response of students towards the goal of the course, I also make changes in my teaching techniques in order to promote effective teaching and learning process.
